Check the security status on your dashboard

Read the green or red security card, understand failed PIN attempts, and learn why the iPad never locks out.

Your dashboard has a Security Status card that tells you at a glance whether anything looks off at the time clock. Most days it's green and you don't need to think about it. Here's how to read it when it isn't.

Read the card

When all is well, the card is green and reads Security Status with the note No suspicious activity detected. Kiosk is secure.

If there have been several wrong PIN entries recently, the card turns red and reads Security Alert with the note Multiple failed PIN attempts detected. Monitor for suspicious activity. It also shows how many failed attempts happened in the last hour, and the same count appears in the Attention Required banner at the top of the dashboard.

A few failed attempts is normal

Wrong PINs happen — someone fat-fingers a digit or forgets which PIN is theirs. The card only turns red after several misses in a short window. One or two is nothing to worry about.

Why the iPad never locks out

On purpose, wrong PINs never lock the iPad. If they did, one person guessing at the start of a shift could freeze the time clock for everyone behind them in line. Instead of blocking the device, the system quietly keeps count and raises the alert so you can take a look. The line keeps moving; you stay informed.

What to do when it's red

Glance at who's around the iPad and whether the attempts make sense. Usually it's an employee who forgot their PIN — reset it from their profile and the count settles down on its own. If the misses keep climbing and you don't recognize the cause, that's worth a closer look.
