Fix a missing or wrong punch

Add a punch an employee forgot or correct a wrong clock-in, clock-out, or break time on a timesheet.

People forget to punch, punch at the wrong time, or punch on the wrong device. You can add a missing punch or correct a wrong one directly on the timesheet, and the hours and pay recalculate the moment you save.

How to tell a day needs fixing

On a timesheet, a day is flagged Missing Punch In or Missing Punch Out when only half the pair was recorded, and No Show when there are no punches for a scheduled day. The Timesheets list also shows a red Missing punch badge on any week that has one.

Correct a wrong time on a day

  1. 1

    Open the timesheet

Go to Timesheets, pick the right week with Previous / Next, and open the employee.

  2. 2

    Open the day

In the Daily Breakdown, select the day's row (or Edit). A window opens showing that day's punches.

  3. 3

    Adjust the punch and save

Edit the clock-in, clock-out, or break time, then save. The day's hours and the week's totals update right away, and the change is recorded so there's always a record of what was edited and by whom.

Add a punch that's missing

  1. 1

    From the timesheet

On the employee's timesheet, select Add Punch. Choose the type — Clock In, Clock Out, Break Out, or Break In — set the date and time, and save.

  2. 2

    From the dashboard, for today

If someone is showing as a no-show today, select Add punch on their row in Who's Working (or Fix in the Attention Required banner). This adds today's clock-in for them in a couple of taps.

Approved weeks are locked

You can't edit a timesheet that's already approved. Open it and select Undo Approval first, make your fix, then approve it again.

Record why someone was absent

For a genuine no-show day with no punches, you can add a reason (such as sick or vacation) right from the day's Hours column, so the absence is explained on the record instead of looking like a mistake.
