Create and assign a work schedule

Build a reusable schedule template with start, end, and lunch times, then attach it to your team members.

A schedule template is a set of work hours — like 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch — that you can reuse for many employees. You build the template once, then assign it to anyone who works those hours. The schedule decides when someone counts as on time or late.

Create the schedule template

  1. 1

    Open Schedules

Go to Schedules and select New Template.

  2. 2

    Name it

Enter a Name that describes the hours, like "Morning Shift" or "8:00–4:30."

  3. 3

    Set the hours

Choose a Start Time and End Time. The end time must be after the start time.

  4. 4

    Set the lunch break

Enter the Lunch Duration in minutes (30 is typical). This amount is automatically deducted from each day's worked hours.

  5. 5

    Save

Select Create. The new template appears in your schedule list.

Assign the schedule to an employee

  1. 1

    Open the employee

Go to Employees and select the person you want to assign it to.

  2. 2

    Pick the schedule

In the Schedule dropdown under Employee Details, choose the template you created.

  3. 3

    Save

Select Save Changes. The employee now follows that schedule, and the Schedules page shows how many people are on each template.

Lunch is deducted automatically

Employees don't punch out for lunch. The system subtracts the schedule's lunch minutes from their daily hours for you, so a full shift comes out to the right total.

Deleting a schedule in use

You can remove a template with Delete, but only if no one is assigned to it. If employees are still on it, reassign them to another schedule first.
