Set a one-time schedule change
Give one employee different hours for a single day — a shift swap, training day, or special event — without changing their normal schedule.
A one-time change (an override) lets you swap an employee onto a different schedule for one specific date. Their regular schedule stays the same on every other day. Use it for shift swaps, training days, or special events.
- 1
Start the override
Go to Schedules and select Create Override. (You can also open an employee's profile and select Add in the Schedule Overrides section.)
- 2
Choose the employee
Pick the person from the list of active team members.
- 3
Pick the date
Choose the Date for the change. It defaults to tomorrow.
- 4
Choose the schedule for that day
Select which schedule they'll work under Select Schedule. A Preview shows the new hours for that day.
- 5
Save it
Select Create Override. The change appears under Upcoming Changes on the employee's profile.
Only today or later
You can set an override for today or any future date, but not for a day that has already passed. If you pick today, a note reminds you that punches the employee already made may not be affected — set overrides ahead of time when you can.
Removing or changing an override
Open the employee's profile, find the change under Schedule Overrides, and select the X to remove it. The employee goes back to their regular schedule for that day.
